Dr. Paul J. White learned to taste wine critically as captain of the Oxford University Blind Wine Tasting Team in the 1980s. Since then he has traveled to over 60 wine regions and judged over 60 international wine competitions on 6 continents. During his career as a wine journalist he has written for magazines, newspapers and web sites in United Kingdom, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Belgium and Russia, including World of Fine Wine, Slow Wine and Decanter.
His interests in Sauvignon Blanc date back to Robert Mondavi’s earliest 1970s Sauvignons, through the revolutionary Kiwi ‘Savvys’ that appeared in the late 1980s and has carried on through visits to all the major and minor Sauvignon producing regions in the world. He has been a senior judge and on the steering committee for Mondial Sauvignon Blanc competition for the last 10 years.
